One year after President Donald Trump was first impeached, the House of Representatives will vote on yet another resolution to impeach, this time for his role in last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol. After charging the president with “incitement of insurrection” earlier this week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will lead a vote that may result in Trump being the first president in history to be impeached twice. House Democrats have largely rallied around the impeachment article, which cited the president’s January 6 speech to a pro-Trump crowd, his repeated false claims that he won the election, and his call to Georgia’s Republican secretary of state urging him to “find” votes to overturn Biden’s victory in the state.

After last week’s attempted coup, many Americans hope to see accountability in action during today’s House impeachment vote. What time is the House voting to impeach Trump? How do I watch the Trump impeachment vote? Here’s everything you need to know.

TRUMP IMPEACHMENT: WHAT HAPPENS IF TRUMP IS IMPEACHED A SECOND TIME?

If the House votes to impeach Trump, the articles will be sent to the Senate, where a hearing will take place and senators will vote to convict or not convict. However, the Senate is currently in recess, and it is not scheduled to return until January 19 — one day before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Some Democrats, including Whip James Clyburn, have floated the idea of waiting until after Biden’s first 100 days in office to send impeachment articles to the Senate, which would allow the body to confirm nominees and enact vital legislation before beginning an impeachment trial. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has dismissed this idea, and on Tuesday, he called upon Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to reconvene the chamber immediately for a potential impeachment hearing.
